The Folly
Shropshire, Paragraph 79
-
This Paragraph 79 house takes the form of a classical folly, set within a riverside landscape along the River Severn near Shrewsbury.
-
The project has been developed in collaboration with:
Alistair Baldwin Landscape Architects.
The Traditional Architecture Group, through their design review process.
-
Drawing inspiration from the historic architecture of Shrewsbury, the design features:
Local stone and brick, grounding the house in its regional heritage.
A grotto entrance, facing the river, enhancing its sense of place.
A zinc dome, crowning the structure with a striking focal point.
River gods sculpted on the parapet, adding a symbolic connection to its riverside setting.
This project is a celebration of tradition and craftsmanship, reinterpreted in a contemporary architectural context.
