Grange Farm

Collaborative Architecture has designed an innovative, off-grid Paragraph 84 home in a rural setting. The project integrates stunning modern design with sustainability, enhancing the broader farm landscape while promoting biodiversity and low-carbon construction.

The design responds to the site’s unique man-made environment, influenced by local history, field patterns, and woodland characteristics. Inspired by country house proportions and biophilic principles, the home is designed to blend with its surroundings while maintaining a bold architectural presence.

The home reflects the area’s rich history, from Roman and Saxon settlements to Victorian and 20th-century industry. Materials like ironstone reference the site's quarrying past, ensuring the design is both rooted in heritage and forward-looking.

Decades of farming have impacted the local ecosystem. The project includes ecological restoration efforts such as hedgerow corridors, wildflower meadows, an orchard, and native woodland to enhance biodiversity and habitat continuity.

With a holistic energy approach, the home minimizes environmental impact while integrating seamlessly with the landscape. Natural materials, sustainable farming opportunities, and water quality improvements contribute to a regenerative design strategy.
