The Place

The Place is a multi-award-winning arts centre and office development, designed by Kevin during his time as Design Partner at Reid Jubb Brown Architects.

This project was a result of close collaboration between:

• Arup Engineers

• The Sunniside Partnership

• Artists Kathryn Hodgkinson and Lightfolio

The design seamlessly integrates:

• Business starter units housed within a collection of linked, listed buildings.

• An art gallery and café, designed to engage the street and spill into the public realm, creating an inviting cultural space.

The defining feature of the building is its southern façade, which boasts:

• A striking screen of vertical rotating glass louvres.

• A modern identity, harmonizing contemporary design with the historic Sunniside quarter of Sunderland city centre.
